In Progress: creative conference to nicely sum up 2012

Posted at 10:00 am, November 27, 2012 in Arts & Entertainment, Olympics & Paralympics, Technology

The Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics, Felix Baumgartner, 3D printing, Whitney Houston. It all kicked off in 2012. As the year draws to a close it’s about time to start getting all retrospective, and for those of you brushing up for Channel 4’s ‘Big Fat Quiz of the Year’ or who just want to be ahead of the game on the next Big Thing, you’ll do well to get yourself down to the In Progress creative conference at the Barbican on December 7. The clever folks over at design website It’s Nice That have carefully selected an impressive line-up of industry specialists, cultural commentators, critics and designers who’ll be on hand to share their ideas and talk about about the themes that have defined 2012 and what to expect from 2013. Head down to see heavyweights including the Director of 2012 Cultural Olympiad Ruth Mackenzie, Olympic Torch designers Barber Osgerby, writer and broadcaster Rupert Goodwins, designer Keiichi Matsuda, Guardian architecture critic Oliver Wainwright and Channel 4’s Marketing and Communications chief Dan Brooke pick out key trends and projects. Tickets will set you back a whopping £185 (including refreshments and lunch) but if you think of this as a cutting-edge forward-thinking educational workshop, you might be able to justify it.
