Top of the shops: the musical Dalston corner shop

Posted at 4:00 pm, November 28, 2012 in Food & Drink

Hipster favourite Red Stripe have been busy bringing their own brand of Caribbean spirit to the beer’s spiritual home of… Dalston. For their latest marketing campaign, the Jamaican lager set about transforming a Kingsland High Street corner shop into a working musical instrument. No, of course this wasn’t the kind of instrument that could be plucked or beaten, instead it required surprised shoppers to pick up a Red Stripe (a common occurrence in Dalston) which triggered an automatic orchestra of bottle trumpets, tetra pac maracas and jumping box drums to play Dandy Livingstone’s classic, ‘A Message to You Rudy’. Jonno Hopkins
