Anyone cruising around Covent Garden this weekend might have spotted the impressively large LEGO advent calendar hanging out in the West Piazza of the Market. Three metres wide, five metres high and made of over 600,000 LEGO bricks, it’s quite hard to miss. Each day, there’ll be a different surprise 3D LEGO Christmas scene unveiled. Building festive bricolages is becoming something of a London annual tradition; last year we had the 10 ft high Xmas tree in St Pancras Station also made out of around 600,000 LEGO bricks (a coincidence or just easy number to round up?!) and this year it’s the turn of the humble advent calendar. Next year we hope to see a full Christmas feast constructed out of LEGO. Now that would be impressive.
If you haven’t already seen the calendar and its shiny bricks, we have a competition for a lucky LEGO fan and three of their mates to head down to Covent Garden and open one of the windows, before having a slap up meal at Jamie Oliver’s Union Jacks.
