A bitter pill to swallow: Ben Goldacre talks Bad Pharma

Posted at 10:00 am, December 4, 2012 in Arts & Entertainment
Bad Pharma

Author, academic and Doc Ben Goldacre has a reputation for exposing the oft-spurious claims of institutions we’re expected to trust. His first book, ‘Bad Science’, criticised the media’s reporting on health and science, selling over 400,000 copies worldwide. His latest offering, ‘Bad Pharma’, examines the dishonesty of large pharmaceutical companies in their pursuit of profit, and is already causing quite a stir. On December 5, Ben brings his investigative medical journalism to the stage to join the Soho Sceptics, where he promises to uncover the darker side of the $600bn drug industry. It’s sure to be a sobering yet entertaining evening, given Ben’s ability to make esoteric information highly entertaining, especially for those of us whose closest interaction with pharmaceuticals is a bathroom cabinet.
