Do you know why we call Father Christmas ‘Santa Claus’? Well, I heard it was because if you say ‘Saint Nicolas’ (the saint he was modeled on) loads of times really fast eventually you end up saying ‘Santa Claus’. If you are working in a quiet office right now and don’t want to try this out loud, there is a magical place you can go where no one will look at you like you drank ALL the eggnog. It’s a Christmas fancy dress charity run and there are two happening this weekend.
Santa suits with beards are included in the registration price but here’s a bonus tip: bring your own black belt as the ones that come with the suits are often pretty flimsy. Also, if you are going with friends make sure you agree on a meeting point. It’s impossible to find anyone with everyone looking the same. Remember school disco-themed nights? Same problem.
Register and join thousands of other runners dressed in Santa suits or just go down to watch and cheer them on. If you have kids and aren’t the kind of parent that likes to sit them down and break news to them gently, this could be a way more ‘in your face’ way to shatter their dreams. Jude Brosnan
