Who needs friends when you have bread? Well, all of us really, but combining the two can’t be a bad idea. If you’re familiar with Herman the German friendship cake, you’ll be happy to know that there’s a new kid in town. The folks over at The Forgotten Feast have released their own version of the sourdough friend into the big wide world and her name is Cleo. Cleo is still very young and will need all the help she can get to stay alive and travel the world, never forgetting her London roots, of course. We got our hands on our very own Cleo (as pictured above) and made ourselves a huge wholemeal loaf that was big enough to feed a family of four for a week – and it didn’t taste too bad either. So if she graces your kitchen, take care of her and make sure she’s a bubbling, happy, hot sour mess. Carly-Ann Clements
