You may have noticed, but stand-up is EVERYWHERE. It’s rare to flick through TV channels without seeing a pair of gleaming-white teeth spewing out observational gags. But there are other fine forms of comedy too. Namely, the underrated art of sketch comedy. The live circuit is teaming with sketch troupes, and Time Out has picked the best of the bunch and thrown them together on one mighty bill: The Joy of Sketch. Our Christmas bash at the Bloomsbury Theatre this Thursday features a rare set from Edinburgh Fringe favourites The Penny Dreadfuls (featuring ‘Have I Got News For You’ star Humphrey Ker), award-winning super-slick foursome Idiots of Ants, Radio 4 and ‘Live at the Electric’ stars Two Episodes of Mash and so many more. Come get sketchy with us and see what the fuss is all about.

For more info on this and other highlights of the week, see the Hot List.
