Walking in the air: the Snowman flies over London

Posted at 5:30 pm, December 11, 2012 in TV

With prequels, sequels, trilogies, reimaginings, reboots and everything in between, it’s sometimes hard to get excited about anything that has the number two (or implication) in the title. Not this time. This Christmas Eve sees the return of ‘The Snowman’ in a 24-minute feature on Channel 4 complete with magical flying scene but with a few small differences. This time round, the young boy, the Snowman and their Snowdog will be flying over Big Ben, the London Eye and the rest of London’s skyline before heading to the North Pole. Unlike most animated films, the background scenery in ‘The Snowman and The Snowdog’ will feature individual hand drawn frames giving London the love and attention it deserves. Couple that with narration from Benedict Cumberbatch and we think ‘The Snowman and The Snowdog’ will settle the hot debate over animated snowmen borne from this year’s John Lewis advert making us all fall in love with their whimsical charm all over again. Carly-Ann Clements
