The Victorians had a novel approach to mental wellbeing, believing that fresh air, sunshine and a good walk could cure most ailments. It’s these principles – minus the sunshine – that inform Largactyl Shuffle’s latest walk this afternoon (Dec 15, 4pm), which explores the mental health services of the Victorians in and around Peckham. Like their previous walks, which covered topics such as William Blake, the Olympic Games and the Summer Solstice, the Peckham Asylums Walk aims to explore the mental health asylums of the Victorians with talks, readings and discussions along the way around Camberwell. Largactyl Shuffle is free and sets off from Maudsley Hospital on Denmark Hill at 4pm. For info, see cooltanarts.org.uk.
