Best Christmas Sandwiches © Rob Greig

It wouldn’t be Christmas without a crimbo takeaway sarnie. Here is a guide to the five best from resident sandwich gourmandes Liz Darke and Ashleigh Arnott.

Tesco Finest Turkey Feast, £2.80
The addition of Lincolnshire sausage, crisp maple-cure bacon and pork stuffing steals the show.
Festiveness 8/10
Taste 9/10

Eat Full Works, £3.60
Sausage-meat stuffing, a perfect cranberry sauce and soft wholemeal bread made this Christmas sarnie sing.
Festiveness 8/10
Taste 8/10

Waitrose Mature Cheddar and Spiced Carrot, £2.20
Sounds unremarkable, tastes amazing. Also provides a nativity costume’s worth of colour in comparison to those sarnies stuffed with three kinds of beige meat.
Festiveness 7/10
Taste 8/10

Boots Turkey Feast, £2.60
The smoky bacon is a welcomed salty addition to the wodge of turkey, and the cranberry sauce adds a perfect sweet and tangy punch. Won’t blow your novelty Christmas socks off, but it’s great value.
Festiveness 7/10
Taste 7/10

M&S Rare Beef and Stilton, £3.25
A tasty respite from the saturation of turkey sarnies. Low on the festive-ometer – beef and cheese are hardly Noddy Holder screaming ‘It’s Christmas!’ – but the stilton is creamy and strong and the tender rare meat is full of flavour.
Festiveness 5/10
Taste 8/10
