New Year's Eve Party

Despite your best efforts, you’ve probably neglected to make plans for New Year’s Eve. Now there’s a group of you who don’t fancy the prospect a night in with Jools and chums, and everywhere is booked up or too expensive. Don’t panic: there are still options. Here are five cheap last-minute NYE nights in London, or find other New Year’s Eve parties with our guide.

New Year’s Eve at The Sebright Arms
Hosted by This is Free and Awesome, Bethnal Green’s Sebright Arms are putting on a New Year’s Eve party that’s free, and promises to be awesome. Ground floor guests will benefit from no queues (we aren’t sure that is possible, but it sounds good to us), a free vodka and Red Bull (provided you’re one of the first 50 there); and music from Beyoncé and Blawan to Tame Impala and Toto. When you’re ready to step up a gear, £5 will get you into the basement, where the delightfully named CUM DJs will see you through to the early hours.

Birthday’s X GETME! NYE Party
This’ll be Birthday’s first New Year’s Eve party, and with no shortage of successful nights under their belt, the two-storey Dalston watering hole is a good bet for a great night. Artists and DJs including Kaya Kaya, Deadly, Mischa Mafia and House of Trax, who will keep you entertained in the lead up to the countdown. Promoters GETME! will also be on hand with Kode 9, Scratcha DVA, Lixo and Jett Letts to ensure you see in 2013 in the best possible fashion. £15 adv/£20 on the door.

Friday I’m In Love
It’s inevitable that you’ll end up singing, nay, screaming your favourite lyrics into the night sky on New Year’s Eve. That’s pretty much the point of Friday I’m In Love at The Albany on Great Portland Street. There you’ll find bands and DJs playing the tracks that defined the 80s and 90s. Don’t worry if you’ve forgotten the words, lyric sheets are provided. £10 per ticket or £15 on the door.

SEXBEAT at The Shacklewell Arms
TOY’s self-titled debut recently made The Quietus’s top 75 albums of the year, so we think they’re well qualified to host a decent NYE party. Dalston’s Shacklewell Arms presents TOY, Cherrystones , Charlie Boyer And The Voyeurs, The History Of Apple Pie, COP, Beach Creep and SEXBEAT. Indie goodness for all. £10 adv / £15 door.

Playhouse NYE Special
Playhouse’s New Year’s Eve celebration returns for a second year. The popular club night from the people who brought you Pic ‘n’ Mixx, Baby Honey and Twee As Fuck will be playing a selection of cross-genre tunes from the likes of Girls Aloud, Fugazi, Talking Heads and Mis-Teeq among others; with one off performances from Bobyn! Fawn Paul and Blu Cuntrell. Head to The Waiting Room on Stoke Newington High Street (formally The Drop). Hurry, though; there’s only a few tickets left. Tickets are £12.
