How many times have you uttered the familiar words, ‘I’m never drinking again’ after a heavy night? In a society obsessed by the devil’s water it’s difficult abstaining, especially over Christmas when we Brits increase our alcohol consumption by a whopping 41%. With all that money spent on drinking – waking up with nothing but a hangover, pot belly and an empty wallet – you’d be forgiven for adding ‘quit alcohol’ to your New Year’s resolutions. This year Cancer Research UK is giving you a helping hand. They’re encouraging people to become Dryathletes for January, abstaining from booze for just one month. You’ll not only be raising money for charity, but you’ll also lose weight, save a few quid and feel amazing. What better way to get 2013 off to a good start? Jonno Hopkins
