A new twitter-based map is attempting to shed some light on London’s ethnic makeup. Dr Muhammad Adnan, of UCL, downloaded 4 million geo-tagged tweets in order produce a map that marks the locations of London’s most popular surnames. The result give a rough insight into the culture, genetics and history of London, demonstrating how groups have settled in the capital. The map is the latest in a series of London infographic looking at the diversity of the capital’s population, including data visualisations that examine language and surnames from the electoral role.
