If you are the kind of woman who loves COS and hankers after simple, well-made but expensive brands like Isabel Marant, Acne and Sandro, here’s some seriously good news: a new design-led label is launching and it’s affordable. Like COS, & Other Stories is owned by H&M, but has a slightly younger, livelier aesthetic. No sack dresses, for one thing. The first collection will include vibrant print mini dresses (£65), modern interpretations of the white shirt (£55), and sleek leather shoulder bags from £65 – but most pieces are under £50. It’s been three years in the planning from ‘ateliers’ in Paris and Stockholm, and you can tell – the clean, minimalist designs have been well thought through and the quality and attention to detail belie the reasonable price tags (chic, plastic-rimmed sunglasses will start at just £12). There’s also a beauty range, with 50 shades of nail polish, skincare and gorgeous-smelling body range (the vanilla-scented Punk Bouquet Body Scrub had us purring in the showroom). The Regent Street flagship store opens in spring. Watch this space for the opening date and a store review. Maggie Davis
