The red carpet’s rolled out, ridiculous riders are at the ready, and the bouncers are in place just in case things kick off between Harry and Taylor: yes, tonight is the 33rd annual Brit Awards. Funny man James Corden will curate the two-hour award ceremony at the O2 Arena, whilst pop heavyweights including Justin Timberlake, Muse and Mumford & Sons take to the stage. Those gunning for this year’s Damien Hirst-designed gong include Jessie Ware (nominated for British Breakthrough Act and British Female Solo Artist), Alt-J (nominated for British Breakthrough Act, British Album of the Year and British Group), Emeli Sandé (nominated for British Female Solo Artist and British Single for ‘Next To Me’) and Adele (nominated for British Single for ‘Skyfall).
But it’s not all about the prizes at the Brits, the live-aired ceremonies always make for an entertaining (and occasionally awkward) watch. Remember Jarvis Cocker flashing his bare ass mid-way through Jacko’s ‘Earth Song’? Or flash back to just last year when Adele ‘flipped the bird’ at show producers for rudely cutting her acceptance speech short? In fact, relive some of the show’s most memorable highlights as we round up our eight favourite Brit Award moments.
For surprise collaborations, tear-filled speeches and guaranteed One Direction close-ups, watch the BRIT Awards 2013 tonight from 8pm on ITV1.
