Horsing around at London’s farmers’ markets

London Farmers Markets

‘Horse invasion planned at London Farmers’ Market’ ran the press release. Thoughts of the capital’s most quaint stalls being overrun by the equine equivalent of a flashmob (a horsemob?) galloped through our minds. Thankfully, the horses in question were only masks belonging to campaigners from London Farmers’ Markets, a group that organises 20 weekly markets, and who turned up at Parliament Hill, Queen’s Park, Swiss Cottage and Blackheath markets last week to highlight the benefits of buying straight from the farmers. ‘Customers trust our farmers. We have a short, traceable supply chain,’ said Cheryl Cohen, from LFM.

More horsey goings-on will be taking place at other farmers markets over the next few weeks. For info, see lfm.org.uk. Read more about London’s best markets.
