Horse Meat

Horse burgers, horse burgers, horse burgers. If all this horsing around is making you hungry, why not get it straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak, at these pony pop-ups…

Try the real deal
The Lord Nelson are serving up horse burgers this week (until March 2) with meat from Borough Market’s Gamston Wood Farm who are one of only five butchers in the UK legally allowed to sell horse meat. The Lord Nelson is famous for serving more exotic burgers – weekly specials have included zebra, crocodile, kangaroo, wildebeest and elk.
For info, see lordnelsonsouthwark.com.

Equestrian education
As part of a new series of Friday night socials at The National Café, on March 1 Peyton & Byrne’s Oliver Peyton will be educating diners about how delicious and healthy properly sourced horsemeat can be.
For info, see peytonandbyrne.co.uk/friday night social.

Not quite ready to make the jump to horse meat? Here are London’s best burgers (horse not included).
