The Sundance London Film Festival kicks off its second year at the O2 on April 25, and although we’re still waiting for details of the full programme, at least one event has now been confirmed: a UK premiere screening of the directorial debut from controversy-baiting electro-pop beast Peaches. The film, titled with customary tastefulness ‘Peaches Does Herself’, is an oddball rock-operatic self-portrait fictionalising the singer’s rise to stardom. Peaches’ debt to the heyday of early ’80s pop is well known, so it’s no surprise she’s taken a leaf out of Prince’s book for her first feature film. Whether ‘Peaches Does Herself’ can possibly scale the lurid, ludicrous heights of ‘Purple Rain’ remains to be seen, but we’re certainly keen to find out. Peaches will also perform at IndigO2 before the screening, and combined music-and-movie tickets go on sale this Friday, March 1.
