Clapham retailer Party Superstore rises out of the ashes ready for St Patrick’s Day
London rioters made cruel use of the now famous Party Superstores fancy dress shop on Clapham Junction back in 2011: amidst the chaos and destruction, looters donned masks from the shop to disguise themselves from local CCTV and media. During this ruckus, the store was exposed to further damage and sadly burnt to the ground. It was one of the many heartbreaking tales from the riots but we’re pleased to hear that Duncan Mundell, Managing Director of the store has started trading again just in time for St Patrick’s day. As part of the big re-opening, the window displays feature symbolic fire and phoenix motifs to show who got the last laugh. What’s more, children’s charity HEAL work from the premises, and part of Duncan’s income goes straight to them. There’s never been a better excuse to dress up and play the fool. Adam Bloodworth
