Do you adore Dior? Well, the feeling’s mutual – Christian Dior was a confirmed London-lover and Anglophile, once exclaiming ‘I love English traditions, English politeness, English architecture, I even love English cooking!’. What does he mean, ‘even’? Anyway, luxury Parisian fashion house Dior is currently celebrating a London-Paris love-in by holding court at Harrods, where shoppers can indulge in a multi-sensory ‘Dior’ experience, with a planned series of in-store pop-ups, beauty events and House of Dior; a cracking free fashion exhibition of show-stopping archive gowns, including the spangly number worn by Charlize Theron in the perfume ads.
Dresses aside, the luxury brand has tarted up the Harrods windows with charming London-themed displays which alone are worth the trip to Knightsbridge, while indoors the store is serving up mini cupcake confections (presented in Dior hatboxes) at a pop-up café and hosting workshops with its fragrance and beauty consultants. If you’re really taken with the whole experience, you can go the whole hog and indulge in a facial from world-renowned Dior Institut therapists for £50 – but you get your cash back if you buy some of the recommended slap afterwards (advance booking required). A limited edition make-up collection – inspired by the seminal designer’s love for London – will also be on sale exclusively at Harrods, and includes the Dior Claridges eye-palette and Vernis nail-polish in Windsor. They do know that’s in Berkshire, don’t they?
