Tooting for the people: south London’s latest foodie destination

Posted at 3:00 pm, March 19, 2013 in Food & Drink

The talk of Tooting lately has been Antic pub chain going into administration – they owned the Antelope gastropub and Tooting Tram & Social, along with a dozen other cherished  bars, mostly in south London. But – hurrah! – the pubs and bars have been saved by a new company, so the pubs’ future looks assured. This is particularly good news for Tooting, as Antic were also behind its spiffingly good new all-day café, Graveney & Meadow. Two other new places of note have also given lie to the myth that Tooting is only good for Indian restaurantsTota is an aspirational all-day brasserie and grill, while the old pub at Tooting rail station – the Gorringe Park – has also had a huge refurb and gone gastro. The citizens of Tooting are already rejoicing at these new-found great neighbourhood places to eat. Guy Dimond
