The White Horse

The White Horse pub on Parsons Green may have a reputation for its rather rah-rah clientele (hence its nickname, the Sloaney Pony), but it’s also much admired by hopheads for its attitude to beer. As well as around eight regularly changing cask ales, the pub holds more than 130 bottled beers from around the world and runs a busy calendar of beer festivals. Next up is the weekend-long Over the Hop festival from March 22-24, celebrating the best of the UK’s lighter spring beers (golden, blond, pale ale and IPA), from London and national breweries. The pub’s airy Victorian interior is looking particularly splendid thanks to a thorough refurb at the end of 2012, but hopefully the weather will be clement enough to allow for a hog roast and BBQ outside. To add to the merriment, the pub’s house band, the Stealers, are performing on Saturday night too.
