Danny Boyle’s new movie, ‘Trance’, is a mind-warping psycho thriller – and a perfect excuse to sneak away from the family this Bank Holiday weekend. It stars James McAvoy and Rosario Dawson in a story about memory loss, a stolen masterpiece and much else that we probably shouldn’t reveal. Today’s release makes this a big week for Boyle. But as the director’s ‘big weeks’ go, it could be deemed small fry. Ahead of the release, Time Out managed to grab some time with Boyle to chat about how he juggled preparing for the Olympics with shooting ‘Trance’ on the streets of London. We’ve also spoken to a series of his collaborators, from Seb Coe to ‘Trainspotting’ actor Ewen Bremner about what he’s really like to work with. You can also check our review of ‘Trance’, in which critic Guy Lodge reserves special praise for the photography by Anthony Dod Mantle, who previously worked with Boyle on ’28 Days Later…’, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and ‘127 Hours’. All reports suggest that ‘Trance’ offers the same psyched-up energy we’ve come to expect from Boyle, this time liberally applied to the capital. Adam Bloodworth
