James Bond and the Queen at the Olympic Opening Ceremony.

We were excited to hear today that Danny Boyle‘s Olympic Opening Ceremony has been nominated for the Bafta Radio Times’ Audience Award. Mostly because we hope it means we will get to relive the 2012 excitement a tad and show this summer what it has to live up to. Boyle’s epic four hour British medley will have serious competition from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, ‘The Great British Bake Off’, ‘Call the Midwife, ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Homeland’. But do any of those feature the Queen parachuting? Exactly. Jude Brosnan

The BAFTAs are held at Royal Festival Hall on May 12th and broadcast live on BBC 1; cast your vote at radiotimes.com. Read our recent interview with Danny Boyle.
