Soho-based charity The House of St Barnabas have announced a series of talks in partnership with cultural consultancy Bug called ‘37 Things You Need to Know About Modern Britain’.

Their first talk is on ‘The Secret Meaning of Shoes’ and will feet-ure (sorry) journalists Miranda Sawyer, Charlie Porter and shoe designer Marc Hare. Come and hear them discuss how and why shoes have become the most fetishised commodity in the developed world, what your shoes say about you and the sexual politics of high heels.

Tickets are £10 and all proceeds go to the The House of St Barnabas charity that aims to create a future where sustained employment is a reality for those affected by homelessness. The bar will be open after so you can continue the discussion, mingle, check out each other’s shoes…. Jude Brosnan
