Take advantage of the improving weather during National Gardening Week

Posted at 6:15 pm, April 14, 2013 in Fun London

Bees and butterflies may seem like creatures of lore at the moment but we promise you they’re not extinct, it’s just that their beloved flowers haven’t been anywhere in sight recently. But with spring rearing its reluctant head, London will be positively buzzing once again, and just in time for National Gardening Week.

Over the coming week (April 15-21) there will be a number of events to nurture any budding gardener’s green-finger. You can get a degree in growing salads at King Henrys Walk Garden on Tuesday (April 16), join Chelsea Physic Garden on Thursday (April 18) as they lift the lid on the world of compost or dig out some old clothes on Saturday (April 20) and get your hands dirty in Tower Hamlets or Dalston where they will be all about gardening for wildlife. So get on your knees and grab that hoe because it’s time to bring the birds and the bees back to London. Deborah Klaassen

Flex those green fingers and start gardening at home or find out more about the events near you on the National Gardening Week website.
