Type that Describes
Type that Describes will show you how to further explore using typography in a visually descriptive way. Warming up with some exercises in markmaking, then moving on to creating thumb nail sketches which will be put on show at the end to fuel a discussion. They’ll also give you wine.
Sunday April 21st, 3-7pm. £25 (includes materials & glass of wine) Type Tasting Studio, N16. To apply see typetasting.wordpress.com
Decorative Display Workshop at Pick Me Up Festival
Type Tasting will be at Pick Me Up for a whole day of drop in workshop fun. You don’t need any creative experience for this one and you’ll be able to say your work was on display at Somerset House.
Wednesday April 24th, 11am-5pm. Free with entry to Pick Me Up.
Using the St Bride Library collection as templates, this workshop will look at Victorian style typefaces. Throughout the evening you will hand render a Steampunk style Twitter feed. Join the discussion on whether type will evolve, follow trends, morph into something completely technological and futuristic?
Thursday May 2nd, 6.30-9.30pm. In the Bridewell Hall. Tickets £25. Apply: www.stbride.org/events
