Do you know your Comté from your chèvre? Or your stilton from your Saint Agur? Then rock up to Southbank Centre Square from April 26-28– the large open space behind the Royal Festival Hall that’s often used for food fairs and suchlike, for the spring version of the Cheese & Wine Festival. The weekend-long event is back for the eighth time on the South Bank to showcase some of London’s most respected food producers and shops, including Paxton & Whitfield, La Fromagerie, Flour Station and Vintage Roots. If beer and a burger is more your thing, don’t worry – Meantime Brewery and Jacob’s Ladder Farms will be there too. New this year are hands-on cookery demonstrations, and you can also book in advance (via the festival website) for talks and tastings from the likes of Patricia Michelson of La Fromagerie or wine guru Tim Atkin.
