David Bowie - 'David Bowie Making a Scene' V&A - Late night at the museums.

Fed up of overcrowded bars with overpriced drinks and the inevitable moment when someone spills their worryingly glowing cocktail all over you? We are too. Maybe it’s about time to get a bit of culture into your Friday night plans. Why not spend tonight at one of the museum’s after hours parties where you can immerse yourself in art, photography, design and music? And there’s alcohol available too – it is Friday night after all. Here are the best Museum Lates happening tonight:

1. Friday Late: David Bowie is a Making a Scene

The ‘David Bowie is‘ exhibition at the V&A is the event of the moment, but if you can’t find the time or the money to go see the show, there is a free late night David Bowie special happening tonight. ‘David Bowie is making a scene‘ is an in-depth look into his music and how it has influenced musicians, artists and designers today. This late night event is part of the ‘David Bowie Weekender‘ an all out Bowie geek-fest covering everything from the iconic artists’ music, art, writings and fashion. It’s going to be a surreal night but if you’ve watched and loved Labyrinth, then this won’t come as a surprise.

‘Friday Late: David Bowie is Making a Scene is at the V&A tonight, 6.30 – 10pm. The event is free on a first come, first served basis, so get their early so you don’t miss out. For more information see Friday Late: Bowie Weekender listing.

Sebastio Salgado - Natural History Museum. Late night at the museums.

2. Sebastião Salgado Genesis at the Natural History Museum

Photographer Sebastiao Salgado’s collection of black and white photos are breath-taking, and this is the first time they are being displayed during a late night exhibition. It took Sebastião eight years to gather over 200 pictures and his dedication is obvious in the pictures on show. The collection will help you escape from the craziness of the city as you wonder at the beauty of Sebastião’s art.

This event takes place at the Natural History Museum and starts at 6pm. Tickets are priced at £10. For more information see nhm.ac.uk.
