‘Merrily We Roll Along’ comes to the West End

Today came the news we’d all been half-expecting – Judy Craymer and Jennifer Saunders’s Spice Girls musical ‘Viva Forever!’ is to close early. Which is great, because it was DREADFUL.

Fortunately there’s a new kid in town – well, new-ish: 32 years after it was first written, Stephen Sondheim’s high concept musical about a trio of friends whose relationship is ruined by success finally makes it to the West End. Don’t worry if that sounds a bit heavy – it’s told in reverse order, so there’s a happy ending and everything.

It was a big hit at the tiny Menier Chocolate Factory last year, but can Maria Friedman’s production hack it in the 800-seat Harold Pinter Theatre

Time Out went down to press night to find out: Read our review of ‘Merrily We Roll Along‘ and check out our interview with the great Stephen Sondheim.

If you want a sneek peek of the show have a look at the trailer below.

‘Merrily We Roll Along’ will play at the Harold Pinter Theatre from the start of May. Tickets are priced at £10 – £59.90
