Flora Dora. Rambling Rose. Whooper Swan. No, these aren’t the names of new groups trying it out on ‘The Voice’ this weekend; these are the boats that will be taking part in the Canalway Cavalcade this Bank Holiday, an annual love-in for the floaters of Little Venice. The Inland Waterways Association are inviting the canal crew to show off their colourful and eclectic boats to us poor land-dwelling folk. To make us even more jealous, there will be a chance to jump on board and glide down the waterways.
If the boats aren’t enough of a draw, there’ll also be bands, Morris Dancers, a real ale bar, craft workshops and the chance to ride on a Pirate Ship. Yes, you read that right. If you’re planning your weekend, consider heading down for Sunday evening when all the boats will be illuminated lighting up Regent’s Canal. ‘Ooohs’ and ‘ahhhs’ all round.
