To celebrate the official start of summer, The Book Club in Shoreditch are putting on a fête, cleverly named ‘A Fête Worse Than Death’, that will blow your Morris Dancing bells off. The car park opposite the bar will be transformed into a village fête where you can forget your city woes and revel in food, cider and games. There’ll also be performances from folk artists, a may pole and prizes for the people who have the best village-inspired outfit.
But the best part will be the food offered by ‘The Foragers’, experts in wild food. For those at one with nature, there’s plenty to take you back to your wild roots, such as pigeon and prune pasties (hopefully they won’t be the pigeons sitting around Trafalgar Square). All of the food will be foraged and the menu will change depending on what is found. So dig out your tweed, wellies, and flat caps and we’ll see you in the queue for a swing around the may pole after one too many ciders.
