As students, waking up to pilfered street signs and traffic cones in your living room was a regular occurrence for most of us. We’re not proud of it, but if your living room is lesser without the warm, yellow glow of a men at work triangle, you’ll be pleased to hear that Westminster City Council and Transport of London are auctioning off their old street signs.
They range from some pretty bland and just downright pointless signs like ‘Planning Inquiry Chamber’ to some nice street and toilet signs. The auctioneers say that they expect biddings from £20 – £1,000 so there must be some epic signage going on.
Here’s a pick of some London signs we’d like to see in the auction:
1. Londoners, you can be so unhygenic sometimes.
3. Darling, what should we have for supper? Well I’d love…
The auction takes place at Summers Place Auctions Ltd, West Sussex on May 21. For more information see summersplaceauctions.com.
