It’s been well over a year since we’ve given five stars to a British artist’s debut album, and even longer since the artist in question was a rock band. Well, that all changed this week when ‘Silence Yourself’ by Savages came out. We’d been gagging for an album for the London four-piece, whose storming post-punk has attracted comparisons to Siouxsie and the Banshees and Joy Division, ever since their first few shows in early 2012 – and all that waiting has paid off. Read our review to find out just why ‘Silence Yourself’ is 2013’s best British debut (so far). And if that’s whet your appetite, you can watch a full video below of the band’s incredible show at Ministry of Sound on Thursday night, courtesy of The Creators Project. Silence yourself, and turn it right up.
