Cock a doodle don’t: new Fourth Plinth sculpture runs into trouble

Cock-a-doodle-don't

Plans for the Fourth Plinth’s newest addition have run fowl. The Thorney Island Society (aka the Friends of St James Park and Green Park) have filed an official objection about plans for the ginormous blue cockerel sculpted by Katharina Fritsch due to grace the Plinth this July, calling the idea ‘totally inappropriate, however fanciful and dramatic it appears to be.’

The local society certainly seemed to think the idea would ruffle some feathers, continuing: ‘We cannot see any logical reason for the proposed structure to be placed on the fourth plinth. It is unrelated to the context of Trafalgar Square and adds nothing but a feeble distraction.’

Sure, the unruly blank canvas of Trafalgar Square is famed for having more hosts than Have I Got News For You, but a giant blue bird getting people nattering to no end, eh? Who’d have thought…

Should the cock be allowed to be erected on the Fourth Plinth (SORRY!)? Comment below…
