The expansive riverside terrace of the Gun gastropub in Docklands is the setting for an unusual culinary battle, when chefs from 25 different restaurants compete to see who can create the tastiest slider on May 16 at 6pm. Will it be Duck & Waffle with their harissa-spiced mutton, Dishoom’s lamb marinated in chilli, garlic and ginger or Tsuru’s Japanese-inspired chicken kaarage? Most decadent recipe must go to the Bladebone Inn from Reading, who are promising a venison, wasabi and bone marrow creation, served with foie gras in a truffled brioche bun.
Tickets are priced at £10 and include two sliders, a bottle of beer and a chance to taste some of the contestants’ concotions. For more info see thegundocklands.com.
