Jason Atherton has been a busy man. One of the original brigage of Gordon Ramsay’s ‘lieutenants’, he quietly plied his trade at Maze, where the restaurant’s profile always seemed to soar higher than his own. After finally breaking away from Gordon Ramsay Holdings, he set up his first solo venture: Pollen Street Social, in Mayfair. It was fine dining, and it was brilliant. Next came Little Social, a more casual (but no less accomplished) ‘deluxe bistro’ across the road. Now, only a few months later, he’s opened this casual yet inventive eatery in Soho, installing one of his own protégés at the helm. Does it live up to the standards of its forebears?
