A genius new quarterly culture magazine, Special Request, has launched with a food-themed issue that takes a look at famous people’s favourite sandwich combinations. There’s Olympian Jessica Ennis talking up the delights of a good ciabatta with roast chicken, and rapper GZA espousing the delights of American mustard on rye bread. Other sarnie selectors include Florence Welch, Daisy Lowe and John C Reilly, as told to the magazine’s Sandwich Editor, Josh Jones.
Led by founder and Creative Director Paul Sethi and Editor-in-Chief Thomas Viney, there’s plenty more foodie goodness inside the new issue besides, including an interview with Coolio. You can celebrate the launch of the very first issue from tomorrow, May 23, as a Special Request-related exhibition opens at Mach Schau gallery in Kingly Court, Soho, running till May 27. Sadly there’ll be no free sandwiches.
Special Request is available to buy from independent bookshops or online. For more information, see their website.
