Canalival comes to Regent’s Canal this coming Saturday (June 1) and the plan is simply brilliant: put a sound system on a barge; get samba bands, dancers and circus-types to perform; attract a massive carnival-style flotilla, with hundreds of punters on rafts, kayaks and dinghies; float down the Regent’s Canal in a Dionysian tangle of limbs and inflatable madness.
Canalival has been disavowed by the organisers: read here for details.
And we’re so enamoured with the idea, we’ve put it right at the top of this week’s hot list. But we’re also giving some love to a morbid lecture series, a bacon-faced comedian, a summery shop in a disused swimming pool and “the feminist Live Aid” to name just a few.
Don’t miss out – consult the Time Out Hot List for this week’s unmissable London events.
