There are one billion hungry people in the world today, while another billion are obese. The issues of food distribution and nutrition are complex: poverty, inequality, conflict, corruption and other human interventions prevent our global supplies of food from going where they are needed. With the G8 summit taking place in Ireland from June 17-18, the 200 organisations behind the Enough Food For Everyone IF campaign (including Christian Aid, Oxfam, Save the Children and many more) are keen to put world hunger firmly on the agenda.
If you want to join others in the call for the G8 to address the issues behind world hunger at the summit, head to Hyde Park on Saturday 8 June, for the Big IF London rally. Starting at 2pm, the event will include speeches from Bill Gates, former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams and broadcaster Natasha Kaplinsky. There will also be guest appearances from campaign supporters including singer Angelique Kidjo.
