Feel like your relationship should be validated on top of a squiggly piece of public art? You’re in luck: the Orbit in the Olympic Park may be the latest attraction to provide a platform for couples wanting to take their relationships to new heights. Anish Kapoor’s 262ft (80 metre) tower is the tallest art structure in Britain, and Olympic chiefs are hoping that their marriage licence proposal will be accepted by Newham Council in time for the Park’s reopening on July 27. Furthermore, it seems other areas of the Olympic Park have caught the love-bug, with the cycling velodrome, former athletes village, and an on-site pavilion further licence applications. We hear that in the midst of all the excitement of last summer’s Olympic Games there were numerous marriage proposals, including three at the top of the Orbit, as well as various others situated around the Park. Let’s just hope they all want to come back here to actually tie the knot.
