Art Everywhere: help fill our streets with famous works of art

Posted at 11:15 am, June 22, 2013 in Arts & Entertainment

Art is coming to the streets of the UK. Thousands of advertising billboards and poster sites will create the largest art exhibition ever known, and YOU can have a say about which artworks will be exhibited. The ‘Art Everywhere’ campaign will see anything from a Damien Hirst spotty painting to John Constable’s portrayal of Salisbury Cathedral change the urban skyline for two weeks in August (Aug 10-25). All you have to do is like your favourites from the long list of 100 artworks over the next week and these will be reproduced on posters and placed in various sites all over the country. The brainchild of Innocent smoothie whizz Richard Reed, and aims to make art from the UK public collection accessible to everyone.

You can also become a patron of the project through the ‘crowdfunding’ initiative. Donate as little as £3 and you buy the paper and printing of a poster, donate between £15-£65 and you’ll get a limited edition by British artist Bob and Roberta Smith, go as far as £450 and you can have your very own billboard-size artwork. So if you’re looking to redecorate your East End warehouse, fancy treating yourself to a tote bag or just want to make sure your walk to work will become more cultural, get voting now!
