In recent years, Wilton’s (the world’s last surviving grand music hall) has been looking a little worse for wear. It’s all very well admiring the theatre’s faded glories, but worrying that it might fall down mid-show can dull the magic somewhat. First opened in 1858, reopened in 1999, and repeatedly saved over the decades, it’s long struggled to find enough cash to comprehensively fix its derelict and decaying bits. Step in the Heritage Lottery Fund, which has awarded Wilton’s £1.85 million –enough for a complete, crumble-proof restoration. HURRAH! Daisy Bowie-Sell
