Blondie – and more importantly, Debbie Harry – have had more than just a big influence on the hairstyles of today. The ICA are celebrating the legacy of the band and their front woman with a three day festival starting this Friday, July 5. Highlights include an opening party with ‘Blondioke’, talks from music writers Tony Fletcher and David Quantick about the 1970s New York music scene, Fashion designer and journalist Luella Bartley, and UK Vogue Fashion Editor Francesca Burns in conversation with Hanna Hanra about Debbie’s style icon status and legendary Blondie drummer Clem Burke in conversation with television presenter Katie Puckrik. There’ll also be film screenings of some of Debbie’s finest film moments including ‘Videodrome’, ‘Wigstock: The Movie’ and, my personal favourite, John Waters’ ‘Hairspray’ (see her amazing exploding hair in the clip above).
