As if you needed another reason to lament being back at your desk while the sun is still shining: while you’re sweating at work, there is a huge Mr Darcy bobbing around in the Serpentine! Yes,you read that right. The 12ft-high fibreglass wet-shirted Colin Firth took three sculptors two months to design, build and paint and will be causing some serious bouts of swooning for anyone who walks, swims or rows past in Hyde Park.
The memorable ‘Pride and Prejudice’ scene has been recreated in honour of the launch of new TV channel Drama after it topped a poll last week as the most memorable moment in British TV drama. The sculpture will soon go on tour before being installed in Lyme Park in Cheshire.
