Summer is here, it’s bloomin’ hot and we’re feeling fresh so we’re heading down to tomorrow’s Strawberry and Honey Fayre at Spitalfields City Farm on Sunday July 14 (starting at noon). This fruity affair features frozen berry smoothies, homemade elderflower cordial, and, of course, generous portions of organic strawberries and cream from Chegworth Valley. Our busy bee buddies are also to thank for the local honey on sale, and the beeswax candle crafting – make sure you have a browse of the bee-friendly plant stall, and visit the buzzy bumblers at the City Farm’s new hive.
Expect a traditional village fête feel with homemade cakes, a BBQ and farmers’ market, and live folk acts (east-ender Bernadette Bentley will even be breaking out the concertina!). Whether you want to get to grips with sowing and growing your own organic goods, or you’d rather peruse the Eco-Chic Market, the Strawberry Fayre will be like a sunny trip to the countryside without leaving the city.
