If you assumed only people who lived in Tampax adverts owned white shorts, you are wrong. Sunday saw 15,000 ‘runners’ dressed in white gather in Wembley to get coloured in at The Color Run, aka ‘The World’s Happiest 5k’. Inspired by India’s Holi Festival, this event was founded in the USA, hence the missing ‘u’ in the spelling.

With no winners or official times, this is the epitome of a ‘fun run’, and runners of all shapes, sizes and speeds, sprinted, jogged, walked and danced around the five kilometer course that was marked at each kilometer with a downpour of coloured powder.

Everyone crossed the finish line looking like a piece of art and was greeted by the Colour Festival where there was more paint and even more dancing before everyone negotiated disapproving looks from bus drivers on the way home and got a colourful surprise every time they blew their noses.

After a long, hot day there’s nothing quite like washing your hair multiple times and going to sleep dreaming of how beautifully colourful the inside of your lungs are. Jude Brosnan

There are still spaces on their other UK events in case you feel like putting the ‘you’ in color. Check out thecolorrun.com.
