We Are Goose: a horribly humorous evening at the Hunterian Museum

We Are Goose

‘Will You Hold My Hand?’ is a suitable name for this surgical schtick as comedy duo We Are Goose are hosting a tribute to the 18th century surgeon John Hunter (whose collection is housed in the Hunterian Museum) and it might get painful.

Not for the faint-hearted, the gruesome twosome have heaps of funny fodder to exploit, as despite being somewhat of a revolutionary genius, the Scottish anatomist was also totally bonkers. The eccentric animal lover held some truly batty beliefs and was involved in grave robbing, the self-inoculation of STDs, and an abundance of botched amputations and transplantations.

Staged in a late night opening of the crystal gallery space, where a cornucopia of specimens and scientific curiosities are shelved, this blues-doo-wap-klezmer medley should both send a shudder up your spine and tickle your funnybone. Kitty Knowles

‘Will You Hold My Hand?’ starts at 7pm, July 19, at The Hunterian Museum, Aldwych. Tickets are £5. We Are Goose will also be performing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this August.
