Sweltering in the office and dreaming of seascapes? Well that slice of sunny sand might be a little closer than you would think. Camden Beach is back at the Roundhouse with all its seashore glory – the 150 tonnes of sand on the venue’s sunny terrace has proven itself to be a mecca for city-stuck beach bums.
With windbreaks, parasols, ping pong, boules and badminton, and ice-cream and frozen yoghurt of course, Camden Beach is the perfect spot for sunshine fun. Indulge in the sea theme with mussels or fish ‘n’ chips from outdoor pop-up restaurant Fishy Business, or nosh on some BBQ from Bubba of Arkansas Café, Old Spitalfields Market. Though sex on the beach is not condoned, a Caribbean cocktail from Jimmy’s Margarita Shack is more than acceptable.
With a big screen showing summer sports, end-of-the-pier arcade amusements, and music on ‘Farah Fridays’, North London life is most certainly a beach. Book a beach hut and get some extra goodies, or just grab your bucket and spade and enjoy the heatwave while it lasts. Kitty Knowles
