Listen up, aca-bitches! Start warming up your voices and flexing your jazz hands as it’s time to join the Bardem Bellas on their journey to the National Acapella Competition finals. On Saturday August 17, The Prince Charles Cinema are hosting a ‘Pitch Perfect’ sing-along, which invites you to bring the best licks, warbles and “sha la la la la”s your vocal cords will permit. The singalong includes a ‘Best Dressed Acapella Group’ competition and a live Riff-Off before screening a subtitled (so you don’t miss a word) version of our favourite musical comedy.
For those who’ve not seen the film, it ain’t no ‘High School Musical’, people. The pitch-slapping, big-rapping ‘Pitch Perfect’ is a quick-witted, razor-sharp piece of fun from start to finish. If joining an acapella group had never before occurred to you, after one hours and 58 minutes of note-perfect pop tunes (which include a life-changing stripped-down version of Blackstreet’s ‘No Diggity’) and more warbling than Beyoncé and Mariah dueting on a Whitney cover, you’ll be signing up to your local choir quicker that you can say “all together now!”. Crushed it.
Pitch Perfect Sing-along at The Prince Charles Cinema on Saturday August 17 at 9pm. Buy your tickets at princecharlescinema.com.
